Here’s another

Cold, Dark, Urban Monotony was done using many things including old newspaper. It was a result of starting the work without a concept in my head. It turned out to be a reminder that the world can be cold, dark and monotonously urban. And we all do risk living in one. However we thank God that we now do have a choice.
I’ve given one of my most loved painting Tsunami to a very special couple recently. Thought I’ll upload my other paintings here as a stocktake of what I’ve done and maybe find inspiration to do more soon.

I painted this of a scene on our journey to Botswana from Johanesburg in 2003. It was the trip where we seeked for job opportunities in that country for tentmaking. A few months later, the Lord closed that door and eventually opens one that lead me to the ministry I’m serving in right now.
This painting always reminds me of the journey of life. That we are always not there yet but on our way. And that life’s a journey and never a mere destination.

Listening to Greensleeves played from the Highlights of London Symphony Orchestra. Reminds me of this water color picture I did in 1990 of an old English scenery almost 17 years ago when I’m staying in a not so ‘English’ time and place. It has been so long.
Some millionaire on TV said that the most important thing in life isn’t about making money. It’s about knowing there’s a gift of grace. Knowing that life is a gift and that we are all here for a free ride. It reflect my belief.
How has Jesus changed me for the last 17 years that I’m grateful just to have life.

This acrylic painting on canvas was done while watching the on-going news report of the Indian Ocean Tsunami in 2004. Over 20,000 people lives were lost and my heart goes out to all their loved ones. The tragedy of such proximity to us here in Asian makes the big difference in how we live our lives. It is a reminder to us the fragility of our life and how we should spend each day as if its our last. Honor each day with our faith and faithfulness and invest in the life beyond.
