    Contemplation Before The Big Camp

    Contemplation — by Rags @ May 31, 2008 5:28 am

“Unless the Lord builds the house, its labor in vain” - Psalm 127:1

A great thought his morning as we depart in a few hours to Port Dickson, Malaysia for our Big Dream Camp

“In vain you rise early and stay up late, toiling for food to eat for he grants sleep to hose he loves” - Psalm 127:3-4

While it is laboring onto the Lord, it is still rest. May we find peace and rest in the presence of the Lord in the midst of service.

Moving moving on…the Big Dreams Kids Camp, here we come

The Dreamer’s Anthem is just been mixed and released…music by Wan Yueh and words by Rags.

It’s just a tad more experimental and modern compared to last year’s Wondrous Word of God

    Running our own race

    Leadership — by Rags @ 7:22 am

I’ve been pondering …” If your leadership is fuelled by comparision, you either feel good that you are winning or feel bad that you can’t keep up. As neither pride or an inferiority complex is good, leadership should be fueled by what is within that we are divinely called to do ”

There’s a Sundown Night Marathon happening in Singapore where participants run at an ultra-marathon (84Km rather than the usual 42 Km). I would think that for most people, the person to beat is not the person in front or behind them, it is themselves.

In leadership we should know the race, know why we run it and .. then just run our own race.

Galatian 6:4-5 “Each one should test his own actions. Then he can take pride in himself, without comparing himself to somebody else, for each one should carry his own load”.

    Arggghhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!

It’s a great way to refuel and at the same time celebrate how we’ve been at this for almost 10 years…

    Refueling

    Blog, Contemplation — by Rags @ May 25, 2008 4:26 am

Over our time together the last 2 days, Mag shared with me something so true. She heard about a chess player who’s been losing 100% of games he played because he never could make his move fast enough to beat the clock. When he realised his habit, he changed his way to always attempt a move within the time given. Almost immediately he found that while he still lose 50% of the time, on the other hand, he won 50%.

We will miss 100% of the things we don’t attempt. When we try, we will at least hit something.

If we don’t seek the Lord’s face, we will fail to 100% of the time. We need to set aside time. When we do, yes, we may not initially find him all the time; but there’s at least a chance. If we keep doing it and do not give up, one day we may find ourselves asking and receiving, seeking and finding, knocking and the door swinging wide open for us, not just occasionally, not just sometime but all the time.

And that will be a worthwhile journey for all of us to embark on.

It’s 1 more week before our Big Dream kids camp. It’s so busy and intense. Part of the preparation is to be quiet. The weekend HopeKids service and the kids will be in good hands, we just attended a saturday service and will be going off in a few hours time to Bintan for an overnight retreat.

Doing an earlier morning club now cos there’s so much to contemplate, to re-dedicate and create. Seeking God for direction, decisions and renewal in new ways and hoping that we’ll find Him in the stillness of our hearts and clarity of our mind.

    Catch you all soon.

    An Empty Nest Now

All three of them went off to Tokyo Japan for 6 days.

We feel like empty-nesting. It’s a strange feeling. Maybe now we can do some work. Maybe now we can do something that we like. Mag is out jogging and I’m listening to Branford Marsalis. Also time to finish up some projects that’s been lying around

It feels so quiet and we realise both of us aren’t really not noisy people. The noise comes from small sources.

The photo was taken 2 days just before three of them left and I’m missing them already. I am so melancholic, I’m reading the Song of Songs.

    The Love For Building

    Contemplation — by Rags @ May 22, 2008 6:54 am

“The glory of this present house will be greater than the glory of the former house’, says the Lord Almighty, and he went on … “And in this place I will grant peace”
    - Haggai 2:9

Why are we building the house of the Lord? Why should we be passionate about it? It is for the glory of God; It is so that God’s name is honored.

But reading further, I notice the true heart of God is so that in the house there is place where peace will be given to His people.

Yes we build for His glory as well as for His purpose to fulfill peace for His people.

    Super Encouragement Power

    Children's Ministry, Management — by Rags @ May 20, 2008 7:59 pm

I sent out an SMS to my team a few minutes ago

    I wrote

“Timothy gave a $50 cheque for the Mynamar Cyclone Victim Relief last Sunday. He asked his mum to write it and he paid her back. We told him that he has a good heart. Have you caught a child in your care group doing good and commended him or her for it? Encouragement is a powerful thing in discipling kids”.

Her mum came back with the full story a while later.

    She wrote

“Thanks Hong Teck, that was only half the story. One night he walked into my room crying with the newspaper in his hand. He told me to take out one quarter of his savings and give to the earthquake victims in china. He said they are so poor thing. I feel so guilty now as I thought that was too big an amount and explained that he could give smaller portions to many different ministries”.

The mum regulated his giving or else it would have been a bigger cheque. But really the eventual amount is not as important as what we see in the child’s heart.

So I told his mum that his boy has special powers and that she regulated it well.
