Declaration

Contemplation — by Rags @ February 29, 2008 9:39 pm

Jesus loves me just the way I am, not what I should be.

…and there’s no buts about it. He loves me just the way I am.

Others may think otherwise, but it doesn’t matter, it never has. Its unconditional love that God’s given.

Though it was a long hard day, I’m grateful for every single experience. There’s no better feeling than grace that is given to me unconditionally.

Good night mother earth, brother sun and sister moon.

Some Cool Kid Things I Found

These are cool stuff from www.likecool.com

The following video is the coolest of all. Something to do in children church? In Nexus Auditorium? If we have the time, that is. Maybe we have the time…

…Maybe not.

At the morning club

Blog — by Rags @ February 27, 2008 8:33 am

At the morning club today, I didn’t do the normal things. Not that I normally do normal things. Today I did nothing actually. Nothing other than sitting on the park bench, listening to the birds and the wind and observing trees and grass and flowers.

I thought the world is about nature with buildings and things placed upon it and not the other way around. We first have natural space then we have things. This we have to remember. It’s good for our everyday interior design.

As I was observing birds, I paid some attention to them walking on ground. When they want to go faster, they don’t run, instead they hop and skip. Thought that’s quite similar to kids. They skip to go faster. Curious what is it that birds and kids know that we don’t, I tried skipping on my way home. I concluded that skipping makes the journey easier… and more fun too.

Skipping also means that we know God is taking care of us.

“Look at the birds of the air; they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them.” (Matt 6:26)

Quantum Theory Cannot Hurt You

Management — by Rags @ 6:50 am

This book by Marcus Chown is what I’m reading now. I have a bachelor of science degree and have never thought its all that useful until God found me and everything about science and the world started to make sense. But as I mature in my walk with Him, I realise that the world/universe begins NOT to make sense. And that has been good because we are truly not that smart.

This book is as ‘layman’ as Quantum Physics can be explained and I am glad to know that physics is getting weird and scientist is finding it hard to explain things with acceptable degree of certainty. I think it is in these so caled weirdness that we find comfort not in things we figure out but in the existence of God.

This is Dr. Quantum’s exploration of Flatland which I thought explains it in a pretty cool way.

Not Scared To Improve

What’s highlighted in our Worm Hole this week.

highlightwormhole.jpg

It’s a call for all to send in feedback of our services everyweek! Just got one from Ps Jeff and we truly need it. We used to be afraid of the Donut Report but now, we simply love it.

Truly I say to you, whatever you bind on earth shall have been bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall have been loose in heaven…..

Today’s Adventure

Blog, Comedy — by Rags @ February 24, 2008 12:44 am

I held May Ann this morning and told her I’m so grateful to God of her everyday. I showed her what I read in Matthew 18:10, about kids having angels in heaven that always see the face of God. She turned to me and ask “Daddy, are you my angel?”. I said no, but I was humbled that she even thinks of that. Only kids think of people as angels. We are happy if adults don’t think of us as devils, let alone angels.

Mag works in Eurocopter, so in the afternoon we went at the Singapore Airshow at Changi Exhibition Hall as guests. The aerial and static displays were fantastic. We should have taken more photos but here are the few we took, I thought you may want to check out…

This one is with Mag’s colleague and her family:

It was so good to be upclose and personal with the Airbus A380. They had it fly so low for us in the aerial display before landing for us to check out. dscf4068.JPG

Me and Mag. …err sorry don’t know why there was an overexposure…

Never mind, this one’s good. airshow4.jpg

Period of Adjustment

Blog — by Rags @ 4:30 pm

Was at care group yesterday and had a around of sharing. 80% of us shared about low things we are going through, including myself.

I said “Man, it’s low tide for me right now”. (Although I should have left out the first word as they were mostly sisters)

We encouraged and prayed for one another which is great stuff.

Back home, I drew this chart showing what’s happening to me and some of us. We know God is working in us.

What we are going through is called “Market Adjustment” but we are still confident.

How To Spot A Dreamer?

Leadership — by Rags @ February 21, 2008 3:09 pm

Attitudes of a Dreamer

  1. Wildly excited about God’s Plan for your life

Yes, check on our calling and purpose! Are we wildly excited about it? If not check out if what we are doing is really what we want.

  1. Wildly excited about Growing in Courage

Yes, not just being inspired, check on how we are acting upon our inspiration. Growing requires courageous action and being close to addicted to it.

  1. Wildly excited about your passion for God.

Yes, not just a mover and a shaker but a person who’s passionate about God. Without this passion, its hard to be passionate about others or make others passionate.

  1. Wildly excited about being shaped in the Community.

Yes, expressing our faith in a community is what life’s about. Lone rangers may be efficient but they cannot be molded in Christ likeness. Is your community shaping you or are online sermons or tapes doing that?

Rules for Breaking Tradition

Blog, Contemplation — by Rags @ February 20, 2008 5:41 am

dscf3406.JPG

Then some Pharisees and teachers of the law came to Jesus from Jerusalem and asked, “Why do your disciples break the tradition of the elders? They don’t wash their hands before they eat!”

Jesus replied, “And why do you break the command of God for the sake of your tradition?

Rules for breaking tradition..

Step 1: Seek to understand the value of the tradition.
Step 2: Consider breaking it only if it contradicts God’s Word
Step 3: Break it, let things settle and then think…
Step 4: Was it self serving or God serving? If its more self serving, jump to Step 5. Otherwise thank God for your great courage to serve Him. After that repent for breaking the tradition because Jesus was addressing the Pharisee and the teachers of the Law’s hardened spirit more than justifying his disciples’ violation of tradition.
Step 5: Repent and go buy that person you have wrong a meal

I know people who doesn’t want to serve the system but at the end of the day, not only break the tradition, they also break God’s commandment of love. We should not have the spirit of breaking tradition. We do it only if it truly hinders the flow the Holy Spirit. I suggest raising love than breaking tradition. In the course of courageous love, we may sometimes accidently break tradition. Just like Jesus healing on a Sabbath, it shoudn’t be intentional.

Personally I like traditions. There’s always great value in traditions for they were formed out of something good and carefully thought out. For example, washing hands is a hygienic tradition we have and we do it at home all the time.
