While Singaporean students go to the airport because of the comfort of air conditioned facilitites and 24 hours eateries to study, Ghanian teens go to their airport to study because the car park lights are the only lights they have. True detemination!
Iraqi Team wins the AFC Asian Cup against all odds. They played against many better profiled teams despite war & violence in their homeland and having to train outside their country. No one in the squad were not affected by the war. At least 3 members lost relatives in the past few months. Just before the the start of the tournament, their team physiotherapist died in a bombing incident. They went all the way to lift the cup. This is human’s triumph over adversity.


Couldn’t pick a perfect one, so I did a montage of the many faces of Foo Wan Yueh yesterday. She basically outdid herself and preached an excellent message. She has everything for the kinaesthetic learners, the visual learners and the auditory learners. Plus she involved the kids in the bible story big time. 2 thumbs up. Who enjoyed it? Well at least Jon did…

Generally was happy with the service but a bit troubled with the behaviour and the discipline of some of the older kids.
I was sleepless last night. This morning I woke up and the Lord spoke……
Ah … received the surprised registered letter a few days ago. I took out of the envelope a letter entitled “Your cheque from Advertlets has arrived!”. Finally its here, my first payment for sponsored ads on my blog. Besides the letter, true enough there’s a HSBC cheque made to my name and everything seems in place.
There’s also some Advertlet Stickers that came with those who received the last batch of cheques. The surprise gifts this time are two very neat Advertlet badges in black and white.
May Ann my first daughter took the black one and seemed thrilled….

I really like that as it truly reflects what Christ expects of us in all that (we think) we have or own. I’m thinking of my ministry, my work, my wife, my kids, my talents and my money. Aren’t they just things that I’ve been entrusted with for a little while. Soon He’ll come asking what have I done with them.

You must remember this award winning photograph by Kevin Carter depicting a vulture waiting for his meal… a dying child in Africa? I stumble upon this and have been reminded again that there’s a world outside our window. We don’t see it because ours are too rosy to take our eyes away. It’s not about this photograph or about just kids in Africa, its about the need of people everywhere all over the world and maybe also someone just across the street.
Let’s start with prayer today and make it a seed of some action to loose the chains of injustice, untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke. to share food with the hungry …….

Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter - when you see the naked, to clothe him, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood?…
I’m not a cap wearer but I did buy a Nike cap from the Metro Sale recently. OK the cap wasn’t really on sale, so it actually didn’t matter where I got it from. It’s funny because after I got it, I wonder why I need it? Nowadays I always exercise very early in the morning and almost never in exposure of the daytime sun.
Just before my run at 5:30 this morning, I found out that my hair looked strange.

Then I discover a good use of my cap.

Ahh, it’s actually not about function than its about style. Infact with the trend of men going for new hair do, i could do with an such alternative. Will save me a lot of money too.
After my run, I was cooling down with a group of elderly people both male and female at the outdoor ‘Multigenerational Fitness Stations’. Today there were 7 of them (from my earlier This morning’s workout post) For a moment, I thought I looked really fine because I saw in the corner of my eye, one of them (she could be around 70 to 80 years old) checking me out!!
It was cool. It was okay because I was checking them out also. I admire their determination to keep fit. I looked at their hair. I thought most of them could do with some nice Nike caps. But of course they were too simple for these type of things. They just wore singlets, japanese slippers, out-sized pants and their natural grey hair (or ..no hair). I thought its not too bad because when I’m that old, I think I probably will too. By then, my cap or my hair won’t matter. Perhaps character will, good friends will count too… and all good deeds towards man.
I don’t know, I was just thinking.
Children’s church (or church in the matter) should not be reduced to a religion of social manners. It should be a community and experience of children with their living God.

The verse from Philippians 4:8 “Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.”
Yes I’m thinking about thinking good thoughts. Ultimately we become what we think about.
